Get Juiced: A Recap of My Experience at I Love Juice Bar
In our blog series Get Juiced, we are sharing juicing recipes, popular smoothies, reviews, and more. In this edition, we feature I Love Juice Bar.
Juicing is in. No matter if you are creating healthy juices of your own at home, or utilizing them in your diet through juice bars and cafes, it is a great way to get much needed nutrition. The things you may not like to eat that are good for you (like kale, celery, etc.) when juiced tastes surprisingly flavorful. When mixed with other organic fruits and veggies, you get a full meal in a drink form that does your body well.
I’ve been on a health kick as of late, and I appreciate a good place to chill and get a smoothie or juice. While on Instagram, I found a place here in St. Louis called I Love Juice Bar. It is a franchise of juice bars with locations in California, Georgia, Florida, Texas, and more. It is new to our area, so I thought I would bring my 12-year-old along with me to check it out.
According to their website, I Love Juice Bar is “overwhelmingly vegetarian, gluten-free, organic when possible, and always uses 100% whole fruits and vegetables”. When you walk in, you can smell the hypnotic and oh so sweet aroma of fruits and vegetables, most notably bananas and coconut. This is the aromatics of fresh produce being juiced and made into smoothies in house, not with a mix or other concoction.
After perusing the menu, my daughter opted for the Very Strawberry Smoothie, which we were told was their biggest seller. I went the juice route with Pineapple Greens.
My daughter really liked her smoothie, but said she tasted more apples than strawberry. It is made with strawberry, banana, and apple juice.
My Pineapple Greens was absolutely enjoyable and I wish I opted for a larger size. The freshness and taste of the kale, spinach, parsley, cucumber, pineapple, lemon, and mint was like having a salad but in liquid form. Simply superb!
I will be back!
In terms of the location, it is a nice spot with no frills. From what I saw, most people opt to get their juices, smoothies, or food to go, but for those who want to stay and dine there, it is a low-key spot that is both quiet and soothing.
The staff is helpful and everything is made to order (there are some pre-made juices at the front counter for those in a hurry). My daughter’s smoothie was made quite fast, but mine took longer. It was worth the wait.
If you are ready to join the juicing revolution, you can check out the I Love Juice Bar website to see if there is a location in your city. Our location is a good 20 or so minutes from my house, but as good as it was, it’s worth the trip and the time.
